Attorney Kristin Overboe began practicing family law in 2010 when she took over her family’s law practice, which was established in 1972. Her practice is devoted to families and their transitioning needs. Kristin has gained experience in many areas of practice, including divorce, custody, contracts, planning estate futures, agriculture, mass tort litigation, real estate and personal injury. Her passion, however, is working for and with families.
Kristin received her bachelor’s degree from North Dakota State University in 2007, and her Juris Doctor from Ohio Northern University Claude W. Pettit College of Law in 2010. She was admitted to the State Bar Association of North Dakota in 2010.
The Overboe Practice
Kristin’s practice is focused in the areas of divorce, custody, paternity, adoption, guardianship proceedings and agriculture law. Kristin recognizes the benefit of resolving cases by agreement but will not hesitate to take your case to court if negotiations fail. She is an aggressive trial attorney and persuasive negotiator with extensive experience in negotiating and litigating divorce-related issues including custody, visitation, maintenance, child support, the distribution of assets and liabilities, domestic violence and orders of protection.
Throughout her career, she has dealt with most family issues imaginable. Today, Kristin’s practice largely involves both low and high net worth divorces and custody battles. She has handled many divorces involving marital estates of all sizes. Such divorces often involve family businesses, family farm operations, inheritance, commercial and other real estate valuation, fraud, multi-spouse households and concealed assets. Her clients include business owners, farmers, entrepreneurs, medical and legal professionals, blue-collar workers, domestic partners and stay-at-home spouses.
Kristin provides her clients with focused, compassionate and individualized representation. What you have to say is important. Kristin has special experience in meeting the needs of children and working with the dynamics of families. In addition to her law degree, Kristin is a Parenting Investigator and Guardian ad Litem, who is appointed by the court to investigate the best interest of children in many contested custody cases.
Kristin is dedicated to the profession and her clients and has earned a number of honors from the legal community, including Super Lawyers Rising Stars. The National Academy of Family Law Attorneys included her on its list of the Top 10 Family Law Attorneys Under Age 40 in North Dakota and the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys listed her among North Dakota’s 10 Best Under 40.
